Doctor Who: The Well

Rating: 7 out of 10.

Another great episode is out. This week The Doctor and The Nurse travel several hundred thousand years into the future to a mining colony that was decimated by an unknown terror. Turns out sometimes things live on uninhabitable planets. This episode is actually a return to a planet visited previously by one of the new era Doctors [I won’t tell you. Spoilers 😉 ].

It was such a great feeling coming to the realization where they were and what they were up against before being shown confirmation. Overall it’s a great episode. The returning creature seems unable to do something it could previously, though maybe its not actually the same creature, it has after all been 400,000 years since the events of the previous episode on this planet. Maybe this is just a descendant of that creature so there’s evolutionary differences, maybe all the radiation changed it, who knows.

I do have one gripe though. As they all figure out how to deal with/escape the creature, instead of waiting for everyone to be a safe distance away, one of the characters goes to kill themselves unnecessarily and the doctor doesn’t say a single thing about it, not even a “maybe wait until the rest of us are free and clear so you aren’t putting us at risk.”

Oh well, not a huge deal, just a minor/medium gripe. 7 stars. I’m caught up now, so I guess Doctor Who will be once a week instead of thrice.
