Good morning, folks! You may have noticed Ian’s and my absences for the last few months. We’ve been through the ringer lately with personal stuff and are just now settling into our new normals.
As for what we’ve been working on lately: I have been sucked into documentaries for some reason, hence the dearth of reviews from me. I have also been watching From and am excited for the next season of The Legend of Vox Machina to drop this week. JimmyZ is working his way through Jason Fischer’s Papa Lucy & the Boneman and looking forward to watching Oddity.
I bring exciting news in this week’s Monday Roundup, too! Not only will you see renewed vigor in posts from me and Ian, you will also see reviews from a new reviewer who has recently joined our ranks (we’re working out some technical stuff, so it will say JimmyZ as the author for a minute, but he’ll be credited in the body of his reviews and we’ll retroactively fix those attribution tags as soon as we can).
Artwork is almost done, too. The commissioned site mascots are halfway done, and there will be a big announcement and some design changes coming with those once they’re all ready to be revealed.
Finally, look forward to a flurry of posting goodness to celebrate October! For the spookiest month, we have plans for lots of horror reviews, of course. I will also be kicking off regularly scheduled reviews of short fiction from prominent pro and semipro zines, and we will begin incorporating holidays such as Indigenous Peoples Day and Black Poetry Day into our reviewing system (is it a system?).
