Here we are back at Monday for our second Roundup (I probably won’t do a running count of them every time, but no promises.)
If you have been following our progress on the site you will have seen a decent amount of content go up this past week. We didn’t quite reach our goal of one a day, but we will get there. And then some. When I had Horror-Web back in the day (and then Little Bunny Cthulhu) I was posting daily. It is taking me a little bit to get back in the groove. A big part of that is that I had a work injury during my stint at a crappy factory job and lost the tip of a finger. The ramifications to this were much more troublesome than I anticipated. As a writer I touch type and that finger no longer is where it is supposed to be as it is shorter. And it hurts on contact. This has made typing into a task I have been hesitant to do. I’m finally getting used to the different sensation and just using it anyway.
As I mentioned my old websites that have disappeared into the great web graveyard in the cloud, be on the lookout for a new feature highlighting the past. Not sure if it will be starting this week, but it will be coming soon.
But this isn’t about me. Well it sorta is, but it’s about what we have been doing and what you can expect from us. So without further ado, away we go.
You may have noticed that Disney did a thing. A small thing. They are now partnered with BBC and are producing the new era of Doctor Who. That’s right, the third era of Doctor Who. And you can definitely feel the more light and whimsical touch of Disney, that isn’t a bad thing. It is a developing thing. Everything changes. And Doctor Who has more than any other property in sci-fi history. Check out Ian’s review of the new episode Space Babies. He is also getting close to dropping his review on Rabbit Hunt, so keep your eyes peeled.
Short fiction is most commonly delivered either in anthologies or magazines. McKenzie is working on a couple of things in the short fiction world that we should be seeing at some point this week including a review of the most recent issue of Apex magazine. And her review of the comic book Spectregraph is live. You can definitely expect more comic material being reviewed as we continue through the days of 2024. She has also been diligently making her way through the series Evil, so expect to be hearing more from her on that soon.
What about me? Just a few things in the works. Teasing by title alone: Silent Sea, Another Fine Myth, Spin a Black Yarn, Under York, Railroad Ink. Will I get all five of these done this week? No. But four of them will absolutely be posted this week. And who knows what other shiny thing may attract my attention before the next Monday Roundup.
One last item of note. This will be posted in a more permanent way soon, but I wanted it officially made clear sooner than later. This is a people driven site. For people. AI has no place here and will never be used in the creation of content or any other material you see on these pages. And if you are an AI entity visiting the site, well that’s just weird and I’m not sure how I feel about that. Until next time: I’ll be back!
