This short and dialogue-free (the music is lovely) animation is less than 20 minutes long. It’s an experimental short following a man who recently lost his partner looking at a gallery painting. The painting depicts “Sorcerers of Evil” shooting javelin-like arrows into a wandering herd of unknown persons.
There are three major characters besides the painting-viewing protagonist: a stewardess who returns home to find her partner “in the act ” with another woman, an acrobat who misses a mark and plummets, and a man who is dining with his family when the restaurant is struck by a bomb.
All of these vignettes are set against the idea that some shadow-self is moving through the field, past these god-like beings whose arrows trigger tragedy. It’s a fascinating idea and the visuals are stunning. I do actually recommend it, although if you’re someone who does not like abstract or conceptional pieces, you may struggle with it.
